The Watcher Playlist

Playlist for The Watcher (Book 1 of The Watcher Saga)

This is an eclectic mix of songs I listened to during the writing, rewriting, and editing of The Watcher. Some of these came from the early drafts, others were used for the rewrites and edits.

Did I mention it’s eclectic?

Character anguish influenced by:

These are songs I’d use to touch into the depths of pain some of my characters carry.

Viva La VidaColdplay

HurtNine Inch Nails:  (original version)

Hurt – Johnny Cash version

This version is even more haunting. Something about Johnny Cash being dead now, and the idea of still hurting yourself when you’re seventy haunts me. It’s a dark thought to hurt yourself at any time, but to keep hurting yourself in your seventies is brutal. It makes me think of how long an immortal might suffer if they were still hurting themselves in some way. Hmmmm…..

Sinnerman – Nina Simone (No video available)  http://www.musicline.de/de/player_flash/0602498887004/0/8/50/product

Love Scenes Influenced by:

Find the last songs depressing? Fortunately, the love songs are a bit sweeter.

One – U2

Hey World (Don’t Give Up)Michael Franti (Spearhead)

All I Want is You – Michael Franti (Spearhead)

Kingdom Come – Coldplay (Can’t find official video)

Hallelujah – K.D. Lang

Iris – Goo Goo Dolls

Rudrashtakam (Shiva Stuti)

Into Temptation – Crowded House

Temptation – The Tea Party

Love Games – Lady Gaga  (This song just came out when I was working on my first draft, and I was hooked!)

Striptease – Hawksley Workman

More aggressive (fight) scenes:

Weapon – Matthew Good

Angel – Massive Attack

Darkangel – VNV Nation

Joy – VNV Nation

This one, I love for the lyrics:

“So why do I love when I still feel pain?
When does it end, when is my work done?
Why do I fight and why do I feel that
I carry a sword, that I carry a sword?
Through a battlefield.”

Somebody Told Me – The Killers

Howlin’ for You – The Black Keys (a bit of everything)
