Random Acts of Kindness for Writers #RAOK

To commemorate the release of their book The Emotion Thesaurus, Becca and Angela at The Bookshelf Muse are hosting a TITANIC Random Act Of Kindness BLITZ. And because I think KINDNESS is contagious, (in case you hadn’t guessed from my Take What You Need post!) I’m participating too!

Today, I’m going to celebrate two writers who have helped me along the way.

Elinor Svoboda: Elinor is a brilliant screenwriter and filmmaker. Her work on Tegan and Sara’s India tour was so innovative, she was given a Juno nomination, and her independent short film, It Remains Unsaid, released this past fall.  Elinor has been my creativity buddy since I completed the first draft of The Watcher in 2009. Her support has been integral to my transition from writer to author. I’m proud to call this woman my friend, and thrilled to announce she’ll be doing my book trailer.

For you, my friend, I offer whatever you need along your journey: be it hours of critiquing, being a sounding board, distributing flyers, technical support, or finding fundraising opportunities for your creative projects.

Cara Anderson: Another brilliant screenwriter (how did I get so lucky as to have not one, but two screen writing geniuses in my midst?), Cara taught me to appreciate subtext and how to analyze story. She has been with me since my first novel attempts over six years ago and encouraged me to pursue my dreams of writing. She beta read for me more times than either of us care to count, and helped me carve a story from my random first draft. Be sure to visit her blog  here and say hi.
For you, my friend, I hope to repay you with endless hours of proofing, beta reading and acting out characters for your own edits. I can offer you promotion, and play time when you need it most.
I also want to shout out to three talented debut novelists at Inkspell PublishingStephanie Lawton, author of WantRebecca Hart, author of Call of the Sea, and Annebelle Blume, author of  Frozen Heart who have been welcoming and supportive colleagues. You’ve made me feel at home. I’d be happy to read your WIP’s any time, or even proof a query or three. Let me know!
Be sure to visit both their blogs to say hi! Add their books to your to-read list on Goodreads: Want … Call of the Sea and Frozen Heart.
How about you? Are there any writers you’d like to shout out to?

You are TOO SWEET! Thanks so much for the shout-out, and I feel the same way. One of the bonuses of publishing a book has been making new friends like you, who I know I’ll keep in touch with long after the pages have yellowed. ❤
